Little Steps: The Joys of Studying Greek and Hebrew

I have recently restarted my studies in Greek and Hebrew, every day a tiny little step of reading, writing and trying to remember all the letters for a start and to identify words. And the more letters and languages we learn the more we go in depth and suddenly find so many similiarities. For example, the Greek letter Sigma and the Hebrew letter Samech are in their body identical, only that the little bow in Sigma is on the right side, whereas in Samech it is drawn to the left but the sounds are the same.

Samech is possibly the origin of Sigma, while the form of Samech is that of = which has not taken over a Phoenician name

The next letter of the Hebrew Alphabet is called Samech, pronounced sa-mech, where the ch sound is pronounced like the Scottish loch or the German Bach.
